Our Story

The Beginning

ESTABLISHED: 1959

Before the church building was built, there was a core of over a dozen families from Central Methodist Church that planted this faith community. At first, this fledgling community of faith met in Martin Chapel on Mount Sequoyah and met in the Auditorium of the V.A Hospital. The intention was to finally build a church on the corner of Sycamore and Garland.

Built in Two Stages

The first stage was on the east-side of the property that was the original Sanctuary in 1960 (what we now use for the Fellowship Hall).

Our Current Sanctuary

The second stage of the building was built on the west-side of our campus in 1972. This is currently our Sanctuary and educational rooms.

As time went on, most of the church in its early development as a faith community was comprised of families from the University of Arkansas Agriculture Department and the V.A Hospital located on College Avenue.

The church population continued to get older and people who attended Trinity Church moved out of the neighborhood. It was a challenging time for this community of faith to discern its identity with all of the rapid changes occurring around the building.

Trinity Church over the past decade has experienced renewal. We have done the hard work of asking God how can we help? How can we embrace and catch the “new thing” God is always doing. Trinity Church has developed a strong identity as an inclusive, missional faith community. We have a Korean Mission located in our building with a thriving college ministry for International Students.
